You'll love the extra light and privacy options this shade provides with the popular combination of blackout fabric and top-down/bottom-up operation. Let in natural light from the top of the shade while still blocking the view from outside, or close the shade fully to darken your room. This shade moves easily with a simple push or pull.
Hi Don, thank you for your question! A Deluxe Blackout Single Cellular Shade may work for your space, but this will also darken the room. A similar option would be the Deluxe Light Filtering Single Cellular Shade as this will soften harsh sunlight and reduce glare while maintaining daytime privacy.
Hi Sandy, thank you for your question! With the Deluxe Blackout Single Cellular Shades, you do have the option to place the continuous cord loop on either the left or right hand side. If you have any further questions, please feel free to give us a call, start a live chat or send us an email!
Let's make sure an inside mount will work for your window! Using a metal tape measure, first check if you have sufficient depth:
How to Measure:
Let's start with the Width:
Now, let's do the Height:
Note: Always provide us with the actual measurement of the window opening. We will make the necessary deduction of approximately 3/8" to your shade's width to allow room for installation and for proper movement of the shade within the window opening. No deductions will be made to your height.
Outside Mount
4 minutes to measure
Before you start measuring, decide where above your window opening you want to mount your shade. You will need at least 1" of flat vertical space above the window to mount the brackets. The shade can be installed directly above the window opening, or higher up to give the appearance of a larger window and to have more clear space in the window when the shade is raised.
If you have trim around the window, you can mount the shade above the trim, directly on the trim (if you have the required minimum flat space for the brackets), or to the sides of the trim if you do not have enough mounting space above the window or on the trim itself. See the directions below for how you'd like to install your shade.
If you do not have sufficient vertical space for mounting the brackets, please see our inside mount instructions or consider a different product.

*Quantity will vary depending on width. Regarding mounting brackets- if your shade is 19"-36" wide you will have two mounting brackets. If your shade is 36 1/8"-48" wide you will have three mounting brackets. If your shade is 48 1/8"-72" wide you will have four mounting brackets.

This shade has a winning combination of features that provide a wide variety of light and privacy options that are especially suited for bedrooms but work great anywhere in the house. The blackout fabric blocks any incoming light, but the top-down/bottom up feature lets you control how much light comes into the room, and from what angle! A typical blackout shade will cast light from the bottom of the window when opened, which may not light the room much – but opening from the top provides good lighting without sacrificing privacy. These made-in-a-day shades arrive fast and last for years!
