Frequently Asked Questions
1. Q: Looking for a blind to stop reflection out of my 70 inch front windows from hitting my lcd tv.

Hi Don, thank you for your question! A Deluxe Blackout Single Cellular Shade may work for your space, but this will also darken the room. A similar option would be the Deluxe Light Filtering Single Cellular Shade as this will soften harsh sunlight and reduce glare while maintaining daytime privacy.

2. Q: Can the continuous cord loop be mounted on either side of the shade!

Hi Sandy, thank you for your question! With the Deluxe Blackout Single Cellular Shades, you do have the option to place the continuous cord loop on either the left or right hand side. If you have any further questions, please feel free to give us a call, start a live chat or send us an email!

Q&A
How to Measure Your Windows
Inside Mount
 3 minutes to measure

Let's make sure an inside mount will work for your window!  Using a metal tape measure, first check if you have sufficient depth:

  • Standard Installation: Measure inside the window opening from the back of the window to the front of the opening where the shade would mount. The depth at the top of the window must be at least 1 ½" to mount the brackets. To have a flush mount (meaning the shade is fully recessed in the window opening) the depth must be at least 2 1/8". If your depth is not sufficient for mounting the brackets, please see our outside mount instructions or consider a different product.
  • EZ-Mount Installation: Measure inside the window opening from the back of the window to the front of the opening where the shade would mount. The depth at the top of the window must be at least 2 ¼" to mount the brackets. To have a flush mount (meaning the shade is fully recessed in the window opening) the depth must be at least 2 ¼".

How to Measure:

Let's start with the Width:

  • Measure inside of the window opening/frame from left to right to the nearest 1/8" at three places: at the top of the opening, the middle of the opening, and then the bottom of the opening. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the narrowest. If rounding is necessary, round down to the nearest 1/8".  That is your ordering width.

Now, let's do the Height:

  • Measure the inside of the window opening/frame from the top of the opening to the bottom of the opening/sill to the nearest 1/8" in three places: on the left-hand side, the middle, and on the right-hand side. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the tallest. That is your ordering height.

Note: Always provide us with the actual measurement of the window opening. We will make the necessary deduction of approximately 1/4" to your shade's width to allow room for installation and for proper movement of the shade within the window opening. No deductions will be made to your height.

Outside Mount

 3 minutes to measure

Before you start measuring, decide where above your window opening you want to mount your shade. You will need at least 1 1/2" of flat vertical space above the window to mount the brackets. The shade can be installed directly above the window opening, or higher up to give the appearance of a larger window and to have more clear space in the window when the shade is raised.

If you have trim around the window, you can mount the shade above the trim, directly on the trim (if you have the required minimum flat space for the brackets), or to the sides of the trim if you do not have enough mounting space above the window or on the trim itself. See the directions below for how you'd like to install your shade.

If you do not have sufficient vertical space for mounting the brackets, please see our inside mount instructions or consider a different product.

Product Details

The name of this product might seem long, but that's only because there are so many great features built right into this shade. Part of our Super Value cellular shade collection, this shade has it all with blackout cellular fabric (which is a superior insulator and blocks 99% of outside light), cordless operation for ease of use, and the top-down/bottom-up feature which lets you lower the shade from the top as well as raise it from the bottom. Since it's one of our Super Value shades, you know you're getting a great shade at a fantastic price – the long name means there's lots to love!

Get to know this shade:

  • Blackout fabric prevents nearly all light from passing through the shade, and is white on the back for a neutral appearance
  • Features two "moving" rails, which allow you raise the shade from the bottom as well as lower it from the top
  • Superior insulation with an R-value of 5.0 to help reduce heat-gain in summer and heat-loss in winter
  • Color-coordinated aluminum rails for a streamlined look, with clear cordless handles for easy operation

Why you'll love this shade:

  • Top-down/bottom-up shade can also be lowered from the top to allow in light while retaining privacy
  • Cordless operation is standard to easily operate the shade with a simple push or pull
  • Blackout fabric blocks bothersome outside light, perfect for bedrooms, media rooms or anywhere strong light control is desired
  • Larger 3/4" fabric pleats create a less busy, proportioned look, even in larger windows
  • Insulating honeycomb design helps reduce your energy bills year round by mitigating heat transfer in your window
  • Meets all CPSC requirements for child safety

Key considerations:

  • Blackout material prevents light passing through the shade; some light may still enter the room from around the edges of the shade
  • Cordless lift means the shades are raised and lowered by hand – be sure you can reach the top of your window
